Meet the artist
Hello & Welcome! I'm Jaimia. Mum to Freddy, Matilda and Charlie. Wife to Luke. I have lived in South East Queensland all my life. I grew up on a farm on the Darling Downs and now live on acreage near Brisbane.
My story is very similar to many self taught artists. At school I studied Visual Art and it was my favourite subject. When it was time to pick a career Art wasn't an option for me. I felt to choose something that I thought could provide more job security and so I began a Bachelor of Education. Once I finished I taught in both primary and secondary schools for 6 years before finishing to start my family. During this time I may have painted 3 or 4 paintings total.
We had 3 kids within 3 years and life was a little hectic. We did plenty of toddler art and craft but it wasn't until my eldest went to Prep that I began to paint again.
Now I'm a stay at home Mum who paints.
I paint from our kitchen table. Mostly with my children nearby. I'm surrounded by views of pasture land and eucalypt forest.
My paintings are an expression of my feelings and experiences of the Australian landscape, its flora, fauna and the many colours it holds. They are created from memories, photographs and sketches. My hope is that I can express my love of this incredible country in an authentic, true and beautiful form and in doing so rekindle a memory of yours.
Thank you for your support. Without it I wouldn't be able to do what I love. And for that I'm forever grateful.
